Summer Research Associate

The Summer Research Associate will support the design, development, and implementation of new research projects. This position is a great opportunity for students to learn more about empirical research in law or legal studies in general.

Duties include some or all the following:
• Working with staff researchers to draft memos and briefs for potential projects
• Performing literature reviews on topics related to current and prospective evaluations
• Direct engagement with study participants, including through mailings, in support of project implementation
• Other tasks in statistical analysis, writing, or other areas as the candidate’s expertise allows

Preferred Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Strong communication and organization skills
• Background in statistics, econometrics, and/or legal studies preferred but not required

The position has flexible start and end dates, ideally beginning in late May/early June and completing in mid August (for a total of no more than eleven weeks). The position is 30-35 hours/week.

Projects Assistant (part-time)

The Projects Assistant will work primarily in support of the Financial Distress Research Project (FDRP). The FDRP is the largest RCT ever run in law, testing four conditions of service for people involved in distressed debt cases in Connecticut, particularly looking at the effectiveness of self-help materials.

Tasks:
Duties include some or all the following based on current needs:
• Printing and preparing weekly mass mailings to recruit study participants
• Calling study participants and alternate contacts to follow-up on their completion of tasks

Preferred Skills:
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Experience making calls (i.e. for phone banks, campaigns, elected officials, etc.)
• Strong communication and organization skills

Schedule:
• This is a part-time position for up to 15 hours a week, without benefits
• Required hours: Fridays 9 am-3 pm. Potential for flexible additional hours as needed
