Meet our affiliates
Daniel Bernal – is a PhD/JD candidate at the University of Arizona. His research focuses on developing rhetorical solutions for legal problems. The Lab is providing advice and technical assistance to support Daniel’s work on the effectiveness of self-help documents in changing eviction outcomes.
Tom Ferriss – is a Statistician at Google. He is a 2012 graduate of Harvard Law School and a PhD candidate in the Harvard Department of Statistics (on leave). Tom works with the Lab on the Divorce study and the Federal Court Mediation study.
Dalié Jiménez – is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law. She writes about consumer law and bankruptcy, and works with the Lab on Financial Distress. She spent a year at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau studying issues around consumer reporting and debt collection. Contact: dalie.jimenez(at)uconn.edu.
Heidi Liu– is a JD/PhD candidate at Harvard Law School and the Harvard Kennedy School. She studies the application of judgment and decision-making, behavioral economics, and labor economics to law and public policy. Heidi works with the lab on the Pre-Trial Release study.
Lois R. Lupica – is a Professor of Law at the University of Maine School of Law, and works with the Lab on Financial Distress. In addition to over twenty years as an academic studying bankruptcy and consumer credit, she has experience as a transactional lawyer and as an executive director of an economic development non-profit. Cassandra Pattanayak – is a Lecturer in Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematics and Guthman Director at the Quantitative Analysis Institute at Wellesley College. Her research focuses on causal inference, with applications to education, law, and health. Cassandra worked with the Lab on the Unemployment Representation, District Court, and Housing Court studies.
Roseanna Summers – is a JD/Psychology PhD candidate at Yale Law School and Yale University. Her research focuses on bringing behavioral science to matters of law and public policy. Roseanna is working with the Lab on The Problem of Default, the Intimate Partner Violence Triage Study (IPVTS), and the Divorce study. She has helped the lab develop its online research program, which it uses to pilot-test intervention materials iteratively, before testing them in the field.
David Yokum– David Yokum serves as Director of The Lab @ DC, as well as Senior Policy Advisor in the Executive Office of the Mayor, Office of the City Administrator for the District of Columbia. David is also Director at the Office of Evaluation Sciences for the White House Social and Behavioral Science Team (SBST). David works with the Lab on the Intimate Partner Violence Triage Study (IPVTS).
