We need your help

We believe that written self-help must be a central component of any serious discussion about addressing the justice gap in the United States. The Lab is adopting lessons learned from adult education and psychology, with the goal of making self-help materials that go beyond “plain language” to being truly useful and usable by their intended audience.

We have learned, for example, that images are an important tool in communicating concepts to adults. We have used cartoons in our financial distress and default experiments, and are now developing image schemes to go with self-help materials for domestic violence survivors.

Let us know which imagery you find to be the most engaging, and which one you think would help us best convey our message to the community.
